Class Pages
The children of Checkendon School are grouped into three separate classes: one for pupils in Reception and Year 1 and 2 pupils, the second and third classrooms are for Key Stage 2.
Oak Class is where our youngest pupils start when they join Checkendon School. They have a purpose-built and well-equipped outdoor learning area. Oak is also the home of our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils; their spacious classroom has a class library with comfy cushions; lots of new banded reading books, dictionaries and atlases; practical resources for maths; a trolley of laptops and all kinds of art and DT materials.
Willow Class marks the beginning of Key Stage 2; Year 3 and Year 4. This large classroom has an outdoor learning area, an adjacent quiet learning zone (for 1:1 reading with volunteers or other interventions), an art area, a trolley of laptops, a class library with funky cushions, and lots of useful practical equipment to support learning.
Silver Birch Class is the home of pupils in Year 5 and 6; their well-equipped classroom has a trolley of laptops, a well-stocked class library, reference books and other resources to support learning and large windows on two sides overlooking the playground and the school field. It adjoins our small kitchen.
